Previous semester

3D Vision and Deep Learning

Instructors: Prof. Dr Ulrich Schwanecke; Univ.-Prof. Dr. Elmar Schömer
Shortname: 08.079.20593
Course No.: 08.079.20593
Course Type: Vorlesung/Übung

Requirements / organisational issues

Prerequisites for successful participation in the course are basic knowledge in the areas of linear algebra, analysis, statistics and programming. For the exercises the use of the programming language Python and the software library OpenCV is planned.

The lecture takes place on Mondays from 2:15 pm to 3:45 pm. If presence lectures are possible during the summer semester 2020, the lectures will be held in room 03 428. The online lectures will take place via recorded teaching videos or live using Microsoft Teams.

The accompanying exercises are put online on Mondays after the lecture and have to be submitted electronically (unless otherwise explicitly stated) by the following Monday at 1pm. The exercises will be corrected by Mr. Daniel Andrés López and discussed on Wednesday 2:15 pm to 3:45 pm. Information about the exact procedure of submitting and the exercises in general will be given in the first week of the lectures.

Contents

The lecture mainly deals with the generation of 3D information from camera images. For this purpose, the entire digital image acquisition process as well as the mathematical and algorithmic concepts for modeling cameras are discussed first. Subsequently, different methods for generating 3D information based on one or several camera images are discussed.
